Fern & Fog is a small, overgrown corner shop full of houseplants, hand-tied bouquets, and honest advice about both. Come in for a fern, stay for the fog of good smells.
In 2019, Marta Quill couldn't keep a maidenhair fern alive in her foggy apartment above the old mill. So she learned everything about it — light, humidity, soil, patience — and then she couldn't stop. The fern survived. The obsession didn't.
Today Fern & Fog is two rooms, one greenhouse window, and roughly four hundred plants at any given moment. We grow what suits this damp little city, buy our cut stems from three farms within an hour's drive, and will always tell you if a plant is wrong for your light — even if it costs us the sale.
A plant shop should feel like a walk in the woods, not a warehouse. Marta Quill, founder
